White against red carries the whole picture. The loops of Ferragosto III sit hot on a pale ground, and every gap of white between them cools the page down. Cy Twombly lets two colours do all the work.
The canvas print comes in four sizes, with a slim 2cm or a thick 4cm bar depth. A wide wall takes the big version, where the red spreads out and the spaces between marks grow with it.
Hang it on a plain wall opposite a window. Daylight keeps the red open and warm, and from the hallway you see the shapes before the written lines inside them.
