Camino Real (ii)

Cy Twombly returned to handwriting all his life, naming works after places, poems and myths. The (ii) in Camino Real (ii) shows him circling back to a title. The name is Spanish for royal road, which fits a line travelling down the page. Pine hangers grip the top and bottom of the poster with strong magnets. The 250gsm matte uncoated paper lies smooth and even, and the whole object is light enough to lift with one hand. Because it weighs so little, it hangs above a bed or on a thin plaster wall. The paper rests close to it, and the marks stay clear from the doorway.
