Black loops and tallies crowd parts of Academy while other stretches stay pale and open. The eye lands on the densest scrawl first, then moves across the calmer ground. Nothing fills the whole width. The empty areas carry as much weight as the marks. The poster is a thick 250gsm sheet, heavy enough to lie flat without curling. Acid free paper keeps the pale ground pale, so the black scrawl stays sharp against it over the years. Academy by Cy Twombly sits well above a desk in a study, at eye level for someone seated. From the doorway the dark clusters read like a lesson board; up close, each loop shows where the hand pressed and lifted.
