The red marks in Ferragosto III seem to be counting something, looping over and across each other in loose rows. That is how Cy Twombly often worked, turning writing and drawing into one gesture. The paper holds the rhythm. The print is 250gsm matte uncoated paper held by durable pine wood magnetic hangers at top and bottom. The wood is light, so the sheet hangs flat on two nails with no frame to lift. Good above a bed or on a narrow kitchen wall. At that distance the loops read as one big red shape, and up close the separate turns come back.
