Iii Notes From Salalah (note I)

Speed is what the line in III Notes from Salalah (note I) gives away first. The marks of Cy Twombly look done in one pass, scrawled the way a hand moves when it is not correcting itself, and the calligraphic line is the whole subject. The framed poster comes in four sizes, enough for a single piece over a mantel or a run of frames up a staircase. Big or small, the gesture stays quick at either end of the range. Above the fireplace it needs air around it. A hand of width between the frame and the ceiling is about right. From the sofa the pace of it all lands before any detail does.
