Leaving Paphos Ringed With Waves Iv

Pencil, crayon and paint appear together in the practice of Cy Twombly, so a line can start dry and end wet. Leaving Paphos Ringed With Waves Iv comes from that habit, loose calligraphic turns moving between drawing and writing. The canvas print wraps the picture around its edges, so the waves roll off the front and onto the sides. A hanging kit comes with it, and no frame is needed, which suits the loose, unfinished feel of the work. A bedroom with a low headboard gives the tall shape a place to stretch. From the bed it looks like one slow swell. Up close, small hesitations show where the hand paused.
