The marks look fast. Lines loop, double back and trail off, the way writing does when the hand moves quicker than thought. In Anabasis (Xenophon), Cy Twombly lets each gesture stay visible, pressure light in places and heavy in others, nothing smoothed out. The framed poster uses oak or ash moulding from responsibly sourced wood, and each length carries its own grain. Twenty millimetres thick and twenty wide, it has more weight than a thin frame, so it hangs still. A study wall works, hung above a desk at seated eye level. From the chair, the grain in the wood answers the grain in the marks. Two quick textures side by side.
