About Blue Room

Pencil, crayon and paint share the same surface in the work of Cy Twombly, so drawing never quite separates from painting. Blue Room keeps them close. The white loops look rubbed on with the side of a crayon, quick and barely corrected. On canvas the weave adds a shallow tooth, so the printed ink breaks slightly and the whole field reads closer to paint than to paper. Glare stays low under a lamp. It sits well over a low sideboard in a north light. Two metres back the loops hold together as one shape. A step away, the white lines carry a waxy, broken texture.

Measure the wall space and pick a size that covers about two thirds of it, or of the furniture below. If you are torn between two sizes, the larger one usually looks better.

Visitors in the US and Canada see standard inch sizes. Everyone else sees metric sizes. Both are printed to exact dimensions.
